Astana. July 3. Kazakhstan Today - The head of the state, Nursultan Nazarbayev, opened today locomotive assembly factory in Astana, the agency reports.

"I laid a capsule of this factory on July 3rd, 2007. This building - 45 thousand square meters- was constructed in two years, within such a short time. We will start producing diesel locomotives along with the world company General Electric," N. Nazarbayev said.

"We have broken railway transportation remained from Soviet Union times," the President of Kazakhstan underlined.

He said that the railway transports 70 % of cargoes of the country. "There is no national economy without this transportation, no industrialization, and no increase in manufacture of goods if we do not transport. These electric locomotives are very necessary for the country," the head of the state considers.
