Astana. September 29. Kazakhstan Today - New USA Ambassador to Kazakhstan arrived in Astana on Friday, the agency reports referring to the press service of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

"The newly-appointed Plenipotentiary and Extraordinary Ambassador of the USA to the Republic of Kazakhstan, Richard Hougland, arrived in Astana on September 25," the press service informed.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, R. Hougland is the career diplomat with the long-term work experience in the US Department of State.

"Prior to appointment to Kazakhstan he held the posts of the Ambassador of the USA to Tajikistan and Charge d'Affaires ad interim in affairs of the USA in Turkmenistan," RK Foreign Ministry informed.
