In April 2023, 171,4 thousand units of motor vehicles were registered, compared to the corresponding period of the previous year, the indicator increased by 2,4 times, including passenger cars and buses -2,4 times, trucks 2,5 times, Bureau of National Statistics reports.

Thus, as of May 1, 2023, the number of registered vehicles in Kazakhstan amounted to 4 730,7 thousand units, of which 87,6% were passenger cars, 10,3% were trucks and 2,1% were buses.

By year of manufacture, the total number of registered passenger cars is dominated by vehicles with a year of manufacture over 20 years - 48,3%, from 10 to 20 years - 22,1% of the fleet, from 7 to 10 years - 14%, from 3 to 7 years - 6,3% and only 9,2% of vehicles have a year of manufacture less than 3 years. It should be noted that the number of cars for more than 20 years decreased by 2% compared to the same period last year.

At the same time, compared to the same period last year, the number of passenger cars traveling by electricity increased 5.5 times, from 449 to 2472 units. The largest number of electric vehicles in Almaty is 1,444 units, Astana - 223 units, Almaty region - 87 units. If no electric vehicles were registered in Shymkent last year for the first 4 months, in January-April of this year their number amounted to 70 units. At the same time, the number of buses powered by electricity increased 19.2 times, from 7 to 135 units. The main number of electric buses moves in the cities of Astana (67 units) and Almaty (32 units).

In April 2023, 3353 road accidents were registered, in which 4785 people were injured. In comparison with the corresponding period of 2022, the injured rate decreased by 14,8%.2)

As of May 1, 2023, 37276 insurance payments in the amount of 20,9 billion tenge were made by insurance organizations for compulsory insurance of civil liability of vehicle owners.
