Government provides over KZT22bln in additional funds to repair flood-damaged infrastructure

The Government of Kazakhstan allocated an additional 22.7 billion tenge from the emergency reserve to eliminate the aftermath of spring flooding and restore the flood-damaged infrastructure facilities, primeminister.kz reports.

The funds allocated to be spent to repair, reconstruct and build roads as well as bridges and culverts in Akmola, Aktobe, Kostanay and North Kazakhstan regions.

In particular, Aktobe region eyes 31 projects, including repairs of culverts on Irgiz-Nura, Irgiz-Kutikol, Kumtogay, road to Uil village, reconstruction of the bridge over the Uil River, construction of a bridge crossing in Aike village, Aitekebi district.

In Akmola region, reconstruction of a road section to Atbasar town, Atbasar-Sochinskoye road, repairs of Zhaltyr-Makinsk road, access road to Koluton village, Zhambyk and other settlements are to be carried out.

Kostanay region is to repair and reconstruct 22 roads as well as bridges and around 10 culverts.

In North Kazakhstan region, construction of 10 roads, including one from Kokshetau to Omsk, as well as medium repair of 22km of culverts are set to be underway.

To note, on July 17, 2024, Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting discussing restoration of flood-affected housing and infrastructure. During the event, Bektenov instructed to speed up restoration works, mobilize people and special machinery for prompt settlement of the challenges.
