Kazakhstan to double per capita financing of education at colleges

According to the current per capita financing policies the average amount allocated for one student makes 437,000 tenge that will be doubled to 912,000. The intensive rewards will be granted to the colleges that had achieved definable benchmarks. The new backing system will help train competitive specialists, equip educational establishments with modern equipment, and host advanced professional training courses, Enlightenment Minister Gani Beissembayev told the Government meeting.

He added that 270 state colleges need infrastructure renovations.

As stated there, 180 state colleges were fitted with modern educational equipment as part of the Zhas maman project.

Another pressing issue is the lack of dormitories countrywide with college students facing a shortage of more than 6,000 places. The most shortages are seen in the cities of Almaty and Astana as well as Almaty, Akmola and North Kazakhstan regions.
