Kazakh Foreign Ministry Comments on Series of Traffic Accidents Involving Kazakh Woman in Phuket
Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on a series of traffic accidents involving a Kazakh citizen on the Thai island of Phuket, a correspondent reports.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan is aware of the detention of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Thailand. Kazakh diplomats are in contact with the competent authorities of the host country and are providing the necessary consular assistance. The circumstances of the incident are being clarified in cooperation with Thai law enforcement agencies," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier, information about the incident emerged online. Reports said that a 30-year-old Kazakh woman had been driving erratically on roads across the island for several hours, colliding with other vehicles and attempting to evade pursuit.

The vehicle also crashed into a minibus and a motorcycle. Two people were injured as a result.

In 2024, tourists were blamed for a wildfire on the Greek island of Hydra. According to local media reports, the fire was allegedly caused by fireworks launched from a yacht. Reports subsequently circulated claiming that the yacht had been chartered by Kazakh citizens. At the time, Kazakhstan's Foreign Ministry stated that no Kazakh nationals were among those detained.

However, it later emerged that Greek prosecutors had brought criminal charges against eight Kazakh citizens, accusing them of complicity in the arson of a pine forest on Hydra.
