Oil spewed into the Arabian Sea after collision of two ships

The Indian coastguards are battling with oil spill, which has appeared in the Arabian Sea near the Jawaharlal Nehru Port at Mumbai after a collision of two large ships, reports referring to an information resource Vesti.Ru.

Almaty. August 10. Kazakhstan Today - The Indian coastguards are battling with oil spill, which has appeared in the Arabian Sea near the Jawaharlal Nehru Port at Mumbai after a collision of two large ships, reports referring to an information resource Vesti.Ru.

"As a result of the accident, one of the ships ran aground and tilted. According to the official data, two tons of mineral oil is spilling into the sea each hour as one of the ships transported diesel fuel and lubricants. Now, helicopters are hovering over the place of accident spraying chemicals and trying to keep oil spill from further spread.

After collision of the ships in the sea, more than two hundred containers with various cargoes have fallen in to the sea. They should be collected as they pose threat to navigation. The Jawaharlal Nehru Port will be closed at least until Wednesday.
