Pasteurellosis became cause of saiga death in Western Kazakhstan area
Astana. May 25. Kazakhstan Today - According to preliminary data, pasteurellosis has become the cause of death of saiga in the Western Kazakhstan area. Vice President of state inspection of agrarian and industrial complex committee, Ahmetzhan Sultanov, informed at a briefing in the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, the agency reports.
"According to the preliminary data, the reason of sayga death - pasteurellosis," A. Sultanov informed.
Saiga death toll - 3271.
The Western Kazakhstan area experts are carrying out disinfection, gathering of carcases of dead animals, and vaccination of domestic animals. "Samples of soil and water from the reservoirs have been delivered to the regional laboratory," A. Sultanov informed.
Pasteurellosis (hemorrhagic septicemia) - infectious disease of animals and human beings caused by pasteurella multocida and is characterized by hemorrhagic septicemia and inflammations of mucous membranes of respiratory tract and intestines. Mortality - from 10 to 75 %.
As informed earlier, mass death of sayga happened in the Zhanibek area of the Western Kazakhstan area. According to the press service of the Emergency Ministry of Kazakhstan, the ministry was informed of mass death of sayga in the territory of the Zhanibek area, where the Ural sayga is concentrated, on May 20 at 11.20 from the Zhaksybay rural district from the settlements Aydarly and Zhumash and from the Borsin rural district from the settlements Vyshka, Kaydar, and Shalash
