According to the Ministry of Emergency of Kazakhstan, as of 17.30, Friday, sayga death toll has been 3200 heads found on the area of 4.5 thousand hectares.
Mass death of sayga happened in the Zhanibek area of the Western Kazakhstan area. According to the press service of the Emergency Ministry of Kazakhstan, the ministry was informed of mass death of sayga in the territory of the Zhanibek area, where the Ural sayga is concentrated, on May 20 at 11.20 from the Zhaksybay rural district from the settlements Aydarly and Zhumash and from the Borsin rural district from the settlements Vyshka, Kaydar, and Shalash.
According to the press service of the Agriculture Ministry, "the inspectors saw grey fog, though the weather in this area was clear and cloudless." "After external examination of the dead animals, the inspectors saw that the animals had swollen stomachs and diarrhea. Dead seals in Mangistau region: First expert conclusion published
A total of 289 сarcasses of dead seals were spotted washing ashore of the Caspian Sea in Tupkaraganskiy district. With the assistance of the local executive body, the carcasses were collected and transported to the landfill. In collaboration with the Institute of Hydrobiology and Ecology, toxicological and histological studies of the found seal carcasses were conducted. Samples of 112 seals were taken," the ministry stated.
