Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev made a report on the role of "middle" states in the changing paradigm of the world order within the framework of the Astana International Forum, press service of the Senate reports.
In his speech, the Speaker of the Senate noted the mission of the forum, which is to unite the efforts of the international community to jointly search for solutions to key global problems. The relevance of the new format of international dialogue, according to Maulen Ashimbaev, is caused, first of all, by the weakening of the positions of diplomacy and the systems of international law.
Under these conditions, the role of medium-sized states needs to be rethought. We need a new paradigm of international cooperation based on the principles of equality, dialogue, inclusion, and respect for the territorial integrity of states. In this new paradigm, in my opinion, middle-sized countries should play one of the key roles. It is important to move away from the international system formed around the relations of exclusively large powers. Today, institutions formed according to the network principle are effective. Apparently, this can also be attributed to international institutions," the Chairman of the Senate emphasized.
The speaker also focused the attention of the Forum participants on promising areas for promoting a culture of dialogue and inclusive development at the international level, in which active middle-sized countries can realize themselves.
Firstly, the promotion of peace initiatives and the provision of humanitarian assistance to countries in need or certain social groups. Secondly, strengthening cooperation and interaction outside key international institutions. Thirdly, initiating a discussion of acute environmental, social, humanitarian and other problems that all countries face today. And, fifthly, the direction of resources for scientific research, development in areas of critical importance for the future of mankind. In particular, in the field of medicine, biochemistry, green technologies, etc.," Maulen Ashimbaev said and cited the activities of the Astana International Forum as an example.
Another effective initiative that contributes to building bridges between cultures and civilizations at the global level, the Chairman of the Senate called the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.
Today Kazakhstan is being formed as one of the recognized international centers of spiritual diplomacy. Now, at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, a series of round tables has begun in the spiritual centers of the world to promote the ideas, proposals and agreements of religious leaders. Kazakhstan's initiatives show the possibilities of middle-sized countries in solving the most important problems of the modern world. They show that middle-sized countries should play a big role in modern international relations. This will help us all move towards building a more prosperous, stable, inclusive and secure world," Maulen Ashimbayev said and recalled that Kazakhstan stands for the diplomatic settlement of international conflicts.
