Issues of improving tax policy discussed in the Senate

Deputies of the Senate Committee on Finance and Budget held a round table titled "Actual issues of tax policy and improvement of tax administration."

The meeting began with a minute of silence, senators and invited participants of the event paid tribute to the memory of the fallen employees of Semey Ormany as a result of a large-scale fire in the Abay region, press service of the Senate reports.

In his welcoming speech, Chairman of the Committee Sultanbek Makezhanov noted that one of the topical issues today is to improve tax policy, reduce the level of the shadow economy, increase budget revenues, and reduce administrative barriers.

Currently, a new Tax Code is being developed, which will differ in its structure, new ideology, it will be aimed at protecting the interests of conscientious taxpayers. It also reflects measures to stimulate business, systematizes a number of benefits. Administration will be simple and motivation will be highlighted," the senator said.


Vice Minister of National Economy Azamat Amrin spoke about the new approaches to the Tax Code. He said that the preparation of the Code took into account the issues of improving the collection of taxes and payments to the budget, transferring the burden to more highly profitable industries and increasing the return from high-income taxpayers, as well as bringing the Code in line with international practice.

In addition, Vice Minister of Finance Yerzhan Birzhanov spoke about proposals for updating tax administration and switching to a service model, and a representative of the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs Atameken spoke about the mechanisms for providing benefits to entrepreneurs.

Based on the results of the round table and the analysis of materials submitted by government agencies and NCE Atameken, the senators of the Committee on Finance and Budget developed draft recommendations that will be sent to relevant government agencies.
