KazakhstanИs flag raised at the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang

The ceremony was attended by President of the National Olympic Committee Timur Kulibayev, sportsmen and members of the Kazakhstan sports delegation.
The ceremony of raising Kazakhstan’s flag was held in the Olympic village in Pyeongchang, South Korea, which is a symbol of the official arrival of the Kazakhstan sports delegation at the XXIII Winter Olympic Games, the press-service of the NOC reports.

The ceremony was attended by President of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan Timur Kulibayev, representatives of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, coaches, sportsmen, Kazakh journalists.

I am for the first time at the ceremony. Before, I was only at the opening ceremonies. This event, where many sportsmen meet, including from Kazakhstan, gives strength. Everyone likes it," the mogul athlete Yuliya Galysheva said.


Kazakhstan is represented by 46 sportsmen at the Olympics, where they gained 57 Olympic licenses. Our sportsmen will perform in nine kinds of sport. For today, almost all sportsmen arrived in South Korea, except for free-style acrobats and our figure skaters. It is expected that they will arrive this week following the schedule.

We note that the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang will be held from February 9 to 25. It is expected that more than two thousand athletes from all over the globe will participate in the main sports event of the winter. Olympic stars will be held at the 12 sports facilities, located in the two clusters. The mountain cluster Pyeongchang will receive sportsmen in skiing, and the coast cluster Gangneung in skating. A set of medals in 15 types of sport will be played.

The flag bearer of the national team of Kazakhstan will be a member of the team in short track Abzal Azhgaliyev. Tomorrow the first Kazakhstani sportsmen Sergey Tkachenko will start to perform in the ski jumping qualification.
